Sydney Sweeney is having a great year, and that’s an understatement. The actress starred in both Euphoria and The White Lotusearning Emmy nominations for both performances.
Now the actress has received her first TIME magazine cover, accompanying an article written by Euphoria costar Maude Apatow. The TIME100 Next recognizes 100 rising stars from across industries and around the world.
Sweeney shared the cover on Instagram, showing off the main photo in which she dons an Old Hollywood-style dress and gloves, posing as if stepping out of the green velvet curtains of a stage.
Apatow began his play written for TIME saying, “2022 is Sydney Sweeney’s year and I got a front row seat. I play Sydney’s sister Lexi on Euphoria and I could see her acting up close, literally two inches from her face.”
She then described a key emotional scene for Sweeney Euphoria the character of Cassie, and how “Sydney juggles all those emotions in a fierce, comedic ballet that only she could pull off.”
The Sweeney co-star went on to praise the 25-year-old’s talent: “I’ve never met anyone who works harder or is more inventive. One moment she will have you crying with laughter and the next day she will break your heart. Sydney is an unstoppable force.”

In an accompanying video, which includes interviews with Sweeney as she took the photos for TIMEthe rising star explained why she wanted to perform in the first place.
She said: “When I was little I always knew I wanted to be an actress. I knew I couldn’t sit around and be just one thing for the rest of my life, and I thought acting would allow me to to be able to connect with as many people as possible.”
Although she is only 25, Sweeney also founded her production company, fifty-fifty moviesin 2020, and it was reported by Deadline in August 2022 that one of his first production projects will be an adaptation of the book The record by Madison Lawsonin which she will also star.
