Outfit based in Birmingham, Alabama Bob Marston and credible sources released their first full LP So long, out June 3. “With songs written as far back as 2004, it would be an understatement to say our debut album took a long time to come together, which makes the title, So Long, very fitting,” Marston told It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine. The album is the culmination of years of songwriting and developing them through live performance. The sound can be broadly described as Americana, but covers stylistic ground ranging from old school R&B to reggae, classic country to hard rock, with songs that eventually cross over as a form of roots rock. .”
The songs on the album fall into two categories: love songs and social justice anthems. From dealing with a breakup and singing laments of romantic deception, to telling stories that convey big questions about social justice, and exploring and trying to understand society and our history, the thread So Long’s driver is to seek and find the humanity within ourselves, our communities, and society as a whole.
Marston has been on a journey of self-discovery, and with the help of therapy, meditation, and cannabis, his empathetic creativity shines through the lyrics of every So Long song. Credible sources are equal parts roots rock backing band and high-flying aces ready to improvise.
