Thanks for talking to us! Although you are an established star in the industry, how did you get started in the industry? Tell us about your beginnings.
“My father was a musician and he had music stores selling instruments in Amsterdam. When I was young, I always helped him in music stores and grew up with all types of music and instruments.“
What is the origin of the name Sem Vox?
“My guitar amp was Vox. And my first name is Sem. This is how I created Sem Vox.“
You have ties to people like Martin Garrix and Carnage who you’ve been spending a lot of time with lately. How did you end up connecting with them?
“Me and Martin both come from the same town near Amsterdam, Amstelveen. We met through a mutual friend and became good friends when we were young. We played a lot of gigs back to back when we were young, and we even did our first gig in Ibiza together at Privilege in Ibiza when it officially opened in 2013.
Also at Don’t let daddy know and festivals such as mysteryland we did a lot of gigs together. He got big after the release of Animals. I decided to focus more on my business E&A Events for the last two years. But during COVID-19, I have had more time to think about what I wanted to do with my musical direction, and I finally created and found my new sound. I have also known Carnage for a very long time. We became good friends two years ago. Her new style Gorde is the same thing I’m going to do with my new musical direction, so we could see something big happen in the future.“
