Rochester DDA announces magazine cover contest winner – Daily Tribune

The Rochester Downtown Development Authority has announced the winner of its magazine cover contest for the spring/summer edition of In Town magazine.

Rochester Hills artist Tim Gralewski was selected as the winner and his artwork will be featured on the cover of the magazine, according to a press release.

The Rochester DDA had recently issued a call for artists for a MOD+ Rochester-themed cover design for the magazine.

Gralewski’s design was selected from over 25 submissions from artists in the greater Rochester area.

“I am a huge fan of mid-century modern art and design and much of my work is influenced by this era of design. I was interested in submitting a design as it suited me perfectly. Also living in Rochester Hills, it’s nice to be part of the arts community. I’ve had a mural on the last two Magical Mural tours in downtown Rochester. I’ve also worked with the Paint Creek Arts Center; A project being a juror for children’s art on Auburn and helping to select artwork that would be on permanent display on the new road, I love being able to work in the community I live in,” Gralewski said.

“It’s a wonderful feeling! It’s always great to have your work shown on a mural or in a gallery or art exhibition. But seeing your work seen by so many people on the cover of a magazine is very special. There are so many talented artists and designers in the area, I’m honored that my piece was selected.

The spring/summer edition of In Town Magazine is scheduled to be distributed the week of April 18 to more than 43,000 homes in the greater Rochester area. It will also be available at downtown businesses and at Downtown Collaboration Studio, 431 S. Main.
