It seems Nicole Kidman’s latest cover shoot has split fans, causing some confusion among social media users for her “stunning” concept.
On Thursday, Vanity Fair released new images and an accompanying video of Kidman wearing a Miu Miu “student” style look to ring in the 28th edition of its long-running Hollywood cover issue – which aims to highlight the best performance in business.
“Presenting our 28th annual Hollywood issue, featuring Oscar nominee Nicole Kidman,” the post captioned an Instagram post featuring the new photos. “The ‘Being the Ricardos’ star held the keys to Hollywood for decades, and her final role as Lucille Ball earned her a fifth Oscar nomination. Yet after 40 years of starring in more than 80 projects in film and television, Kidman says she approaches each role like she’s fresh out of acting class.”
Idris Elba, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Stewart, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simu Liu, Andrew Garfield and MJ Rodriguez are among the other stars of the commemorative issue.

However, many social media outlets were quick to comment on the outfit worn by the Lucille Ball incarnation which exposed her belly area.
“One of the most prolific (and also beautiful) actresses and she’s portrayed as a scantily clad schoolgirl in 2022,” one commenter wrote. “Who thought that was a good idea? The wit is mind blowing.”

Others echoed similar sentiments with one Instagram user responding, in part, that they were “very confused by this completely weird and unexpected look. And not in a good way.”
Another user wrote, “Why is this distinguished adult dressed as a schoolgirl?” while another commenter quipped, “Is this part of the metaverse, because it doesn’t look real.”

“I’d love to hear the concept behind this… ‘Cause I don’t get it,” added another commenter, with another write-up that the outlet “groped all over this shoot.”
Meanwhile, others loved it with one person writing, “You look beautiful” on Kidman’s own social media post that featured her cover. “Very very beautiful beautiful,” another person said. “Sensational,” said one individual.

During Paris Fashion Week, Miu Miu kicked off its Spring/Summer 2022 season and one of the looks was “rebellious schoolgirl meets chic teacher”, as described by Vogue UK. Celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber recently wore similar looks from the brand with this latest model for Miu Miu’s latest campaign.
A representative for Vanity Fair did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
