With a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Illustration, you’ll learn how to use visual storytelling to captivate audiences. By taking immersive art classes that will develop your abilities, you’ll discover how your distinct visual voice can be used in a variety of illustration markets.

With this illustration major, you’ll focus on drawing, painting, storyboarding, visual voice, and visual storytelling. You will study and practice how to tell stories visually, learn character development, and explore a variety of digital and tangible mediums, such as Corel Painter and Water Based Media. This studio-intensive degree is designed for students strongly committed to a professional future as illustrators, studio artists and designers, or to pursue graduate studies.

Why get a BFA in illustration?

A standard in art and design colleges, this Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration is designed with an emphasis on a hands-on studio component, rather than lectures or discussion. With no language requirement (unlike a BA), you’ll take an additional 14 hours of art lessons instead. A BFA in Illustration provides a competitive edge in the job market and is considered a gateway to an MFA.
