As we get closer to the premiere of Spider-Man: No Coming Home, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are increasingly eager to see if their predictions for the movie come true. The film features the introduction of the multiverse and the return of Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, and Electro from previous Spider-Man films. So, fans are wondering who else will return. Thanks to a magazine cover, fans now believe that another villain, Sandman, will return in Spider-Man: No Coming Home.
Fans Think Sandman Will Be One Of The Villains In ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
Empire Magazine recently released the covers for their October issue, and they’re all about Spider-Man: No Coming Home. One of the covers features Spider-Man in his costume, with Doctor Octopus’ arms and Green Goblin’s orb in the background. The second cover, however, is where dedicated fans spotted something that confirms Sandman is in the movie. Sandman’s arm is seen clenching his fist and holding it aloft.
Fans have taken to Twitter to speculate whether or not this image confirms that Sandman is in Spider-Man: No Coming Home. One person wrote, “I know we like to joke, but this Empire cover really confirmed Sandman.”
Another fan jokingly tweeted, “‘There’s no way Sandman is actually in the movie.'”
Will Sandman be one of the villains Peter will face?
The powers behind Spider-Man: No Coming Home confirmed that Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin and Electro would all be in the film. Alfred Molina will play Doctor Octopus, the character’s original portrayer in Spiderman 2. And Jamie Foxx will play Electro, who played the character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. An undisclosed actor will play Green Goblin.
So Peter will have his hands full with all those bad guys. But will Sandman be part of it? In the movie’s trailer, some fans thought they spotted Sandman in a scene that winks and misses you. But nothing was confirmed until the cover of Empire Magazine was published.
We last saw Sandman, aka Flint Marko, in Spiderman 3, performed by Thomas Haden Church. Marko was a thief trying to support his sick wife and daughter. It is revealed in the film that Marko killed Uncle Ben. In the end, however, Peter forgives Marko and lets him escape. So maybe Sandman won’t be a villain in Spider-Man: No Coming Home. But it might be cooler if he was part of the Sinister Six, which is another popular fan theory.
