LUBBOCK, TX – David CampbellTexas Soccer officially unveiled the cover of its upcoming 2022 magazine on Monday, which features the head coach of Texas Tech Joey McGuire alongside longtime friend in UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor.
The magazine’s cover highlights the important ties to the state of Texas for McGuire and Traylor, two highly successful former high school coaches in the state who now hold top roles coaching the Red Raiders and Roadrunners. In addition to covering all FBS and FCS college programs in the state, DCTF provides an in-depth analysis of every high school in Texas, ranging from Level 6A to Level 1A.
“It’s a dream come true to be on the cover of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football,” McGuire said. “It’s so special not only for me and my family, but for all the high school coaches in the state of Texas. To see two former high school coaches on this cover is special. by Dave Campbell always kicked off the football season for me, so being on the cover this year in our first year of building this program will be something I won’t forget.”
McGuire becomes the fourth Red Raider head coach to grace the cover of the DCTF and the first since Patrick Mahomes II and his then head coach Kliff Kingsbury graced the 2016 edition. The magazine also featured Michael Crabtree, Graham Harrell and Mike Leach on its cover in 2008 as well as former big names such as Rodney Allison and Donny Anderson.
In addition to Leach and now McGuire, legendary head coach Spike Dykes has made two appearances on the magazine’s cover, first doing so in 1990 before joining several of his peers in 1996 to commemorate the Big 12’s first season. Conference.
