BYU was ranked as the best illustration school in Utah and the Southwest according to Animation Career Review, and was ranked 14th out of the top 50 illustration schools nationwide.

Students like Audrey Day who are part of the program have been accepted into the 2022 Society of Illustrators Scholarship Competition.

“For me, illustration is the perfect balance between artistic experimentation and practical design thinking,” Day said. “As soon as I knew you could combine art and stories, I knew I would be an illustrator.”

Jaymie Johnson, Simona Love, Audrey Morgan and Samantha Windley are the other four students whose artwork has been accepted into the 2022 Society of Illustrators Scholarship Competition.

McKay McFadden, student at BYU took second place at the 21st Annual Chinese Bridge Language Competition which ran from April to June 2022.

The competition consisted of submitting a three-minute video essay in Chinese and a video recording of a cultural performance.

McFadden’s essay focused on the importance of seeing people as complex individuals. He linked the theme of his essay to his skill in performing the calligraphy of a Chinese poem about striving to see things more clearly.
